- It's been a decade now
- that we have lived at our address
- And mostly we're contented here.
- We're happy, more or less.
- But something that does bother us,
- and something we regret
- Our neighbour's been a nuisance
- since the day that we first met.
- He always passes comment
- when I need to cut my grass
- Or points out when my bins
- are mixing plastic, card or glass.
- Or if I'm having visitors
- who need to park on-street
- He always makes them move their cars
- by just a few more feet.
- Complains my milkman's noisy,
- or my gutter's needing cleared,
- Puts trimmings in my garden
- from our hedge that he's just sheared,
- Or Post-Its on my windscreen
- with some wisdom to dispense,
- Or letters to the council
- to complain about my fence.
- His petty wee aggressions
- I no longer can ignore,
- So when he next goes out
- I'm creeping round to his front door.
- I'm shouting through his letterbox
- to get back at the prat:
- "ALEXA, SET REMINDER:
- 3AM, TO WALK THE CAT!"____
