- My starting ritual, nine o'clock,
- I brew some tea and then restock
- The biscuit plate to see me through
- To five o'clock (or maybe two).
- My second ritual, nine fifteen:
- The morning meeting with the team.
- We set the business for the day,
- Unblocking problems in the way.
- At half past nine is ritual three,
- The ritual that's most dear to me:
- I fetch my altar, and my knife
- And sacrifice a mammal's life.
- A mouse, a rat, a fox, a shrew.
- If pushed, a neighbour's cat will do.
- Dispatch it quickly, check it's dead,
- Upon my desk the entrails spread.
- In modern times, we work from home
- And many hours are spent alone.
- Our mental health we must maintain:
- These little rituals keep us sane.____
